Escape from Kakariko is a chaotic Ocarina of Time Randomizer game mode that combines a high amount of shuffled locations with a downsized game world. Escape from Kakariko seeds are generally very short, with many able to be finished in under an hour.
Seeds can be generated through Elagatua's fork on the OoT Randomizer website using the Escape from Kakariko preset.
The Basics
Link is trapped inside Kakariko Village and must escape by finding the 3 Triforce pieces held by the bosses of the dungeons accessible from the village.
The three overworld exits from Kakariko Village (to Hyrule Field, Death Mountain Trail, and the Graveyard) all lead to the entrance of a randomly shuffled (stone or medallion) dungeon. Additionally, the Windmill leads to the entrance of a randomly shuffled side dungeon (Bottom of the Well, Ice Cavern, or Gerudo Training Grounds).
Travel through Time
Instantly change your age by playing Song of Time (credit to Kirox!) and search Kakariko Village and the dungeons for the items you need to defeat the three bosses.
Shuffled Locations
Inside Kakariko village, only normally shuffled locations are enabled. Inside dungeons, however, almost everything is shuffled. Tokensanity, scrubsanity, potsanity, cratesanity are all enabled, as well as freestanding items. Textures are enabled for chests, pots, and crates to more easily see where major items are hidden.
An Empty World
Everything outside of Kakariko Village and the four accessible dungeons should be empty (provided the generator behaves). Beatable-only is enabled, so there may be major items left inaccessible that are not necessary to complete the seed.
Hints
Four hints are available at the Temple of Time that reveal how many Way of the Hero items are contained within each accessible dungeon. Use this information with extreme caution, as the logic engine doesn't consider Link's ability to instantly travel through time.
They say that the Spirit Temple hides 4 steps towards the escape from Kakariko.
Other Notes
- All Skulltula rewards are disabled
- The Market Guard House is accessible from the Kak Skulltula House entrance to allow for emptying a Big Poe Bottle. The Big Poes check is still disabled though, and the reward will be a junk item.
