Here will be listed what is allowed or banned in the Standard racing ruleset, along with examples, an explanation, or a justification where necessary. This ruleset is subject to change based on the community feedback and the will of the Chamber of Sages.

Allowed

  • Any accidental glitch which does not grant the player an advantage is okay
  • Any technique required by the settings of the randomizer is allowed
  • Savewarping
  • Deathwarping
  • Voiding to reset Link’s position
  • Jumpslashing while mid-air for more distance
  • Jumpslashing against walls for recoil
  • Attacking to collect or hit an object on the other side of collision
  • Power Crouch Stabbing
  • Broken Deku Stick
  • Damaging Volvagia’s second hitbox
  • Crossing the Haunted Wasteland without Longshot or Hover Boots
  • Rolling from blue switches to open doors
  • Momentary Antigravity
    • EG: B1 Skip in Deku Tree, going to the alcove in Forest Temple Block Room
  • Cucco Jump in Zora’s River or Gerudo Valley
    • NB: Entering Gerudo's Fortress as child is banned unless otherwise in logic per the settings
  • Damage Buffering
  • Invincibility Frame Abuse
    • This includes passing through flame walls and opening flaming chests
  • Backflip over Mido in the Lost Woods as Adult
  • Flame Storage
  • Schrodinger’s Chain
    • This is the act of culling the drawbridge to the castle so that it no longer updates its collision. It's also gotten the affectionate name "cat chain" by the community.
  • Twisted sidehops/backflips
  • Recoil Jump
    • This is the act of shielding damage midair to reset Link's animation, usually in order to grab a ledge
  • Ground Jump
    • NB: it is disallowed to Ground Jump off of the fake ground created by the Hover Boots
  • Hookshotless Gerudo Training Grounds
  • Hookshot extension
    • See below for a caveat
  • Passing through the back side of one-sided collision
    • EG: the bottom of the bridge in Kokiri Forest, Darunia’s door, Song of Time block in Forest, Impa’s House ledge
  • Backflipping through the spikes in the spike room of Shadow Temple
  • Getting grabbed or thrown into collectibles such as GS tokens or Silver Rupees
  • Swimming with Iron Boots
  • Opening underwater chests while wearing Iron Boots and completing the Diving in the Lab with Iron Boots

Banned

  • “Crazy Dance” or other variants in Spirit Temple
    • This is the crossing of the interior statue in Spirit Temple by child Link to reach the adult side of the temple.
  • Crossing the Gerudo Bridge without Longshot, Epona, or Requiem of Spirit
    • NB: unless settings make it otherwise necessary, such as Entrance Randomizer
  • Child in Gerudo Fortress
    • NB: unless settings make it otherwise necessary, such as Entrance Randomizer
  • Opening Shadow Temple without Din's Fire
    • NB: There is a trick that puts this in logic. If that trick is enabled, this is allowed.
  • Culling cyclindrical hitboxes in order to circumvent their collision
    • EG: Hookshoting/Longshoting through boulders, shooting arrows through culled red ice, etc.
  • Pause buffering to prevent timers from ending minigames
  • Damage boosting
  • Ground Jump while in mid-air (as with Hover Boots)
  • Infinite Sword Glitch
  • All forms of Superslide
  • Hoverboosting
    • Using the momentum retention of the Hover Boots to extend the time you have high velocity, usually from damage or recoiling off a wall
  • Megajumping
  • Megafliping
  • Megasidehoping
  • Weirdshoting
  • Hookshot Jump
  • Extended Antigravity
  • Low Gravity Glitch
  • Seamwalking
  • Being Out of Bounds
    • Defined as: any area which is beyond the boundary walls of the map such as an outer seam, or any area which is exposed to the lowest void plane in the map
  • Touching misplaced or accidentally exposed loading zones
    • EG: early Jabu, Trials Skip, Market shops at night
  • Passing through collision from the front
    • IE: all forms of clipping
  • Cutscene diving to sink into water
    • NB: This includes with Navi and Cuccos
  • Using restricted items
    • EG: Farore’s Wind in the overworld, or Ocarina in boss rooms
  • Item Manipulation
    • This is an umbrella term covering the glitches Bottle Adventure (BA), Reverse Bottle Adventure (RBA), and Get Item Manipulation (GIM)
  • Equip Swap
  • Action Swap
    • NB: This includes using the explosion limit to Ground Jump
  • Ocarina Items
  • Bottle Duplication
  • Gold Skulltula Token/Heart Piece Duplication
  • Collection delay
    • EG: early Eyeball Frog or Gold Scale.
    • NB: Delay happens naturally in many shops if you buy quickly, this is ok
  • Something except for a Sword on B
    • NB: This excludes normal circumstances like riding Epona or playing minigames
  • Down A, Return A, and Blank A
  • Causing a switch to remain pressed longer than it should
  • Wrong Warp
  • Void Warp
  • Entrance Point Glitch
  • Actor Glitch
  • Bongo Bongo quick kill
  • Bombing (0,0,0) to kill unloaded actors
  • Unloading actors which should clearly be loaded
    • EG: King Zora’s ice, graves in the graveyard, Gold Gauntlet monoliths
  • Being in unloaded areas
  • Dying to achieve anything other than a deathwarp or health refill (
    • EG: Jabu “Slimy Thing” skip
  • Walking while talking
  • Z-Slide
  • A-Slide
  • SRM (Stale Reference Manipulation)
  • Retaining the Master Sword in Phase 1 of the Ganon Fight
  • Platform exclusive tricks
